William Peat Butchers
Barnard Castle
Well known to be Teesdale’s oldest butchers; the Peat family were selling the finest local meat as long ago as the late 19th Century. We bought William Peat Butchers as well as Marden Farm Shop in Barnard Castle from Roger Peat in 1993 before moving the business to more suitable premises closer to the town’s historic market place a few years later. At the same time we converted the Farm Shop to a Delicatessen selling pies, bread and cakes from our own bakery as well as the best selection of local and continental meats and cheeses in the area. The butchers shop serves our other branches with our multi award winning sausages and bacon and supplies the finest meats to some of the region’s best restaurants.

Stanhope
We first branched out from our Tow Law outlet in the early 1980’s to the picturesque Weardale town of Stanhope where we took over Sanderson’s Butchers. We moved a few years later to larger premises on the same street where we continue to specialise in the very best Beef and Lamb from the surrounding Dales.

Crook
Originally Moralee’s Butchers, we took over this shop in the Market Town of Crook in 1988. For many years the bakery on the first floor supplied our other shops with pies until the growth of the business forced us to locate our bakery elsewhere. We now bake pies, bread and cakes 6 nights a week in our larger bakery, also in Crook.

J.D. Hall Butchers
Corbridge
Widely regarded as one of the best butchers shops in Northumberland, we were invited to take over JD Hall Family Butchers in 1990 by George Hall who had maintained his father Donald’s high standards right up to his own retirement. We gave the shop a major refurbishment in the late 1990’s, greatly expanding the front shop and counters allowing us to diversify our range of continental meats and deli products.
